About the Role
Our Machine Learning team is seeking Talent Intelligence Engineers to join Mercor on a part-time, US-based, remote, contract role. This role is ideal for current students or recent graduates from either technical fields (i.e., data science, machine learning) or applied social sciences (as well as human behavior practitioners and professionals) who want to apply their unique skills and perspectives to drive our mission forward.
We envision building a team of Mercor Intelligence Engineers who can leverage their unique background, experiences, and perspectives to grow our proprietary talent intelligence datasets by expertly and objectively evaluating talent data (including AI-conducted interviews, resumes, and other characteristics of a candidate’s profile) on a custom platform we’ve built. These data pipelines will be used to train our machine learning models that power our Team platform, which allows companies to find the best candidates for their open opportunities. Intelligence Engineers will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development and build of new functionalities of this internal platform, along with refining our model training philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, written analysis of talent data (i.e., AI interviews, resumes, etc.), based on expert assessment of a candidate’s demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Grow our proprietary talent intelligence datasets to help optimize Mercor’s machine learning models for talent matching
- Collaborate with Mercor’s machine learning and engineering teams on feature engineering for our internal data engineering platform
- Contribute to special ML projects enhancing our talent data pipelines, sharing expert perspectives on new initiatives and product builds
- Share feedback on our model training philosophy to ensure robust, valid, and fair talent assessment
Preferred Qualifications
We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, recognizing the importance of varied perspectives in creating robust and fair model training datasets. We think great candidates for this role may:
– Be currently enrolled in, or recently completed, an US-based Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in:
(A) Computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or any related technical fields; OR
(B) Human behavior, psychology, sociology, anthropology, industrial-organizational psychology, or any related applied social sciences
– Have experience with interacting with people in various domains and environments (e.g., through managing/leading teams, conducting qualitative research, serving clients)
– Possess professional experience in human behavior-related fields such as talent management, organizational psychology, recruitment, diversity, equity, & inclusion (DEI), or behavioral consulting
We value candidates whose ability to adapt is just as important as their existing skill sets, whether they possess either technical or social science backgrounds, or a combination of both. While not required, we’ve identified the following domain-specific skills and experiences to likely be beneficial for the role:
- Technical domains – Familiarity with machine learning concepts, tools, and methodologies, knowledge of data science techniques and data visualization tools, and experience with programming languages and data structures
- Social sciences and applied human behavior domains – background in qualitative research methodologies, experience in evaluating social settings and human behavior, understanding of psychometrics and assessment techniques (and relevant experience)
- Interdisciplinary domains – ability to bridge technical and social science concepts, experience in applying data analysis or programming to human behavior studies
At Mercor, we recognize exceptional ability comes in all forms, a core philosophy on which we built our platform. Because of this, we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, unique experiences, and transferable skillsets, even if they don't meet all the preferred qualifications listed above.
