Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Risk Analytics, the Sr. Data Analyst will play a key role in data storytelling and leveraging data science algorithms to extract trends, patterns, and insights from our organization’s data to identify emerging risks and risk mitigation strategies.

Reporting to the Director, Risk Analytics, the Sr. Data Analyst will play a key role in data storytelling and leveraging data science algorithms to extract trends, patterns, and insights from our organization’s data to identify emerging risks and risk mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities
- Creating solutions and strategies to business problems using machine learning tools and algorithms. Collaborate with team members and leaders to accelerate risk analytics maturity through enhanced portfolio data analysis strategies.
- Design analyses of internal portfolio data and external economic and demographic data to identify trends and patterns relevant to the business by leveraging data science, AI, and traditional analytical methodologies.
- Discover insights in structured and unstructured economic and market data using advanced analytical and data science methods. Build data sets for analytics through integration, cleaning, feature engineering, scaling and transformation of data including building an insightful data story.
- Develop a good understanding of risk management analytics needs and collaborate with teams on concept testing and prototype development. Support the Risk Analytics team with ad-hoc analysis, reporting and presentations.
- Leverage visualization methods to describe the data story and communicate outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to the company’s knowledge base as is relates to portfolio data with centralized documentation and ensuring adequate data governance.
- Key contributor to Sagen’s Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE) by participating in and leading analytics user groups to share knowledge and expertise.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial, Math, Economics).
- 3+ years of progressive experience in a data science/data analytics role.
- Proficiency and demonstrated experience using data analysis tools (e.g., AWS Sagemaker, Python, R, SQL, Alteryx, PowerBI, Snowflake), working knowledge of AI and machine learning techniques.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and explain and share information with a non-technical audience.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance. Takes the initiative for self-directed learning and development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling the incumbent to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive work environment by actively participating in team discussions, supporting team members, and sharing knowledge and expertise.
