THE ROLE:

The Social Media Analyst will be an integral part of social intelligence / media monitoring work Hill & Knowlton delivers for its clients. Your meticulous and detail-oriented mindset will be essential as you analyze social media content, transforming raw data into actionable insights and contributing to a growing body of knowledge on issues and trends. Please note that this specific job posting is for afternoon-to-early evenings shifts working Wednesday to Sunday. Regular days off would be Monday and Tuesday.

The ideal candidate possesses an unwavering commitment to accuracy and a keen eye for detail, coupled with an understanding of social media analytics and trends. This role demands an intrinsic curiosity and a passion for uncovering insights from data. Additionally, this role involves leveraging WPP’s suite of Generative AI technologies to explore the automation of typical social intelligence responsibilities.

The role will ideally be based in Vancouver, but candidates based near one of Burson’s other Western Canada locations will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze social media data: Evaluate our clients’ and competitors’ presence across social media and identify opportunities to protect and promote their brand.
  • Point of expertise: Our teams use a variety of media intelligence tools, like Brandwatch, Meltwater and Cision (among others). Previous experience is preferred and you would be upskilled to become an expert with these tools.
  • Data storytelling: We do more than provide data, we distill information to meaningful insights and strategies. Being an effective writer, with the desire to produce high-quality, insightful analysis is key to this role.
  • Client Insight: We're driven by a deep understanding of our clients' needs, often anticipating challenges and opportunities before they arise. You'll use your analytical skills to uncover insights within social media data that directly impact our clients' success.

Critical Experience

As the Social Media Analyst, you will have:

  • 1-to-3 years of experience in public relations, social monitoring, or strategic communications – agency (PR, advertising, or marketing) experience is an asset though not required.
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to turn complex problems into an actionable research plan.
  • Experiencing using any of the following media intelligence platforms (e.g., Brandwatch, Cision, Meltwater, Quid, OPoint).
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience developing queries with Boolean logic.
  • Strong understanding of typical social media metrics, including Reach, Impressions, Engagement, Share of Voice, etc.
