The Data Science team at NCS is focused heavily on internal clients and capabilities research to improve existing methodologies and develop new products, as well as to execute custom research for external clients.  All of this tends to be within the Marketing ROI and or audience targeting space.  

As a Data Scientist, Tech, your objective is to help a)drive the company’s constant effort to create new products and improve existing offerings, and b)drive client value by assisting in the analyses and preparation of highly custom client deliverables. To do this, you will have a set of powerful analytical tools, thorough job training, a supportive peer network and experienced manager to help guide your work. You will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of NCS’s data, products and capabilities, as well as all steps of the analysis process and make modifications as needed to fulfill internal and/or external client needs.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute internally to the ideation, development, and validation of new, and continuous improvement of existing analytical products and processes
  • Contribute to custom client deliverables and develop integrated analyses using proprietary tools and processes 
  • Perform due-diligence on analysis results for accuracy and relevancy
  • Provide insights in response to client inquiries and deliver high level of service
  • Become a subject matter expert on NCS methodology and capabilities
  • Participate in cross functional teams/projects
  • Participate in knowledge sharing across the organization


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, operations research, quantitative social sciences (e.g. psychology, sociology, etc.) or hard sciences (e.g. engineering, computer science, etc.) OR undergraduate degree 
  • 2+ years of relevant experience with strong analytical expertise
  • Strong quantitative skills and statistical knowledge
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience working with statistical software and/or scripting language (R, Python)
  • Ability to learn and apply new analytical methods and tools
  • Curiosity, critical mind, and self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Ability to work under time pressure
  • Ability to work independently and on cross-functional teams through complex problems
  • Strong attention to detail


PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Industry knowledge of digital audience/media/advertising measurement and/or CPG/retail transaction data
  • Experience with statistical estimation, classification, regression, and machine learning techniques, including Generalized Linear Models, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, Causal Inference, as well as sampling and weighting techniques
  • Experience wrangling, analyzing, and correcting very large datasets using statistical models
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Matplotlib, ggplot, plotly, Tableau)
  • Ability to communicate both in deep technical terms (e.g. requirements for new software) as well as explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be an hourly rate of $100.00, which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location.  The position of each employee within a compensation range at NCS is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs.
