Context for This Small Team Engagement: Paving the Future Path for Connected Health Insights

In 2022, we evolved our mission from “Empowering People to Take Control of their Diabetes” to “Empowering People to Take Control of Their Health.” In early 2023 we announced the development of a new glucose biosensor designed specifically for people who are not on insulin, and not at risk of severe hypoglycemia. This product is anticipated to launch in mid 2024 and represents an important step toward a future where our biosensing technology play an increasingly vital role in connected health solutions that motivate and empower people to improve their health. This project provides an opportunity to influence the solutions company pursues as it creates this connected health future.

Project Focus: You and the team will leverage your collective knowledge in software, algorithms, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), business and psychology, alongside company’s unique health data set and vast research repository to create recommendations to win the future Health & Wellness segment with future biosensing technology.

Project Objective: At the conclusion of your work, you will recommend the ideal feature set for our future biosensing product including the hardware, software, algorithms, user interface, health data insights, business model, and go-to-market strategy that will best engage and delight the Health and Wellness customer segment, with a focus on one or more connected health “communities”, (e.g., athletes who may seek to use our future product to optimize health and athletic performance, or members of a running club) who may seek our future product to engage with a virtual community for encouragement and support.

The team members will have an opportunity to learn about and use company’s unique glucose monitoring technology and interact closely with a real-world product core team. You will have access to product development, design, market and user research, marketing, R&D and finance teams, and present your recommendations to our executive commercial leadership at the end of the summer.

Qualifications

• Rising Junior or Senior undergraduate college students, in good academic standing
• Pursuing degrees in any of the following fields: Data Science / Machine Learning
• Interest in personal and population health, Healthtech and technology.
• Self-starter, willing to proactively recommend problem-solving approaches.
• Ability to work well in a team environment, and to seek and take coaching from team managers.
• Strong learning agility, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite , Zoom, and Slack (or similar programs with ability to adapt).
• Natural curiosity, love of problem solving, and desire to think creatively about the future of personalized health technology.
