Story Behind the Need:
The Data Analyst, Data Remediation Audit Program contributes to the overall success of the Group Treasury Data Office in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
The main function of the Data Analyst role is to support the investigation, development, testing and operationalization of data solutions related to the strategic goals of the Group Treasury Data Office. This role ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with enterprise data standards, policies and procedures. This project entails a three-year road map from 2024 to 2026, an extension opportunity is available for the candidates.

Typical Day in Role:
1. 10+ years of working experience as a Data Analyst with a strong understanding of data concepts (metadata, data mapping, data quality, data modeling, data governance).
2. Hands-on experience working within Data Management and Operations, including proficiency in Data Management Tools (Collibra and IGC preferred) and understanding of data flows within a large enterprise.
3. Working knowledge of Data Management framework and can trace data elements at origination and as they move between systems including any transformations.
4. Working knowledge of data models, data relationships, mapping lineage and business rules using IGC (Information Governance Console) and universal catalogue.
5. Hands-on experience with developing dashboards in PowerBI and Tableau.

Typical Day in Role:
- Support the Senior Manager on strategic data and innovation initiatives, presentations, and analysis with executive-level visibility for the Treasury Management team.
- Experience working in data management and can provide hands-on support on the implementation according to Data Office playbooks, guidelines, standards, and policies (e.g., documenting initiatives, use cases, data tiering and classification, critical data elements, and business data elements).
- Performs necessary data mapping and lineage activities and documents information flows to support specific business requirements.
- Performs data quality rule creation, and analyzes and communicates results supporting data quality processes.
- Builds the metadata model and business glossary by gathering information from multiple sources: business users, existing data sources, databases and other relevant documents and systems.

Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Strong business acumen, data analysis, metadata documentation, and data quality controls skills specifically with respect to analyzing business process controls, sourcing, and provisioning of lineage, identifying data quality issues and proposing remediation steps.
- Understanding of Bank’s systems i.e. ALM6, IGC, GC.
- Demonstrated ability to provide evidence to 2nd and 3rd line.
- Understanding or experience with Treasury.
- Cloud platforms and related data services knowledge (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services).
- An average candidate will only have experience with data governance, whereas the ideal candidate will have expertise in both data governance and data analytics.
- Extensive experience with Power BI and Tableau.
- Detail-oriented and ability to work independently.
- Strong technical education background, majoring in fields that require a high degree of analytical skills, such as Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, Statistics, Accounting or related field.
