Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Design and build a new PowerBI workforce insights dashboard which consolidates HCM data metrics. Responsibilities will include project planning, stakeholder engagement, prototype design, testing, and release.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, both internal and external, to ensure alignment with business objectives and data reporting requirements. This includes collaboration with both technical and non-technical resources.
- Capture and maintain documentation of business and technical information, ensuring transparency and traceability.
- Develop training materials and strategies to enable end-users to effectively use the new dashboard. Provide training to the internal team as needed.
- Identify and escalate issues and risks as appropriate, and work to resolve them to ensure smooth project progression.
- Manage tasks, action items, and timelines for the project. Follow up on outstanding items and escalate as needed.
- Effectively communicate findings, insights, and project progress to stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prepare presentations and demonstrations for engagement with stakeholders.
- Ensure data governance and data quality practices are adhered to in the creation and maintenance of the new dashboard.
- Ensure that data security and privacy guidelines are followed in all aspects of the work.
Education:
- University graduation in business, management or a related discipline and 2-yr Business Analyst (BA) experience.
- 2-yr diploma in business, management or a related discipline and 4-yr BA experience.
- 1-yr certificate in business, management or a related discipline and 5-yr BA experience.
- 6-yr BA experience
Work Experience
- 4 Years experience creating data visualizations, dashboards, and other information products for clients using BI/analytics software, including any or all: SAS Visual Analytics, SAS Visual Investigator, MS Power BI, Tableau, Looker, R, Python.
- 5 Years experience in facilitating business workshops.
- 5 Years experience in gathering requirements from a diverse group of stakeholders across ministries or departments.
- 4 Years experience with BI and advanced data analytics in an organization of equivalent size and complexity as the Government of Alberta.
- 4 Years experience with Power BI reporting and SQL Server Analysis Services/Integration Services/Reporting Services
Nice to Have
- 5 Years hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis, solution architecture and design, and deployment related to data management, acquisition, preparation, quality and data lineage/provenance.
- 5 Years experience dealing with clients and explaining complex data principles in a thoughtful manner.
- 5 Years experience in building analytical and quantitative analysis models.
- 5 Years experience making decisions and recommendations on highly technical or complex issues without formal guidelines or precedents and exercises resourcefulness and ingenuity
- 2 Years experience using human capital data for workforce analytics and reporting
- 3 Years experience working on enterprise applications, i.e., applications used by all or most departments in a large organization, rather than applications used by just one or a few departments.
