Business Systems Analyst

The Business Systems Analyst is integral to the success of the Enterprise Data Management team, and to CAAT’s guiding mission and growth strategy.
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Data Management, you will provide Business Analysis support for the team’s various data management projects such as Data Integration, Data Quality, Data Warehouse, Data Governance, Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Analytics.
You will act as the first point of contact for CAAT’s business and technology teams for their data and reporting needs and support them by gathering business requirements, creating a technical solution by collaborating with data management analysts and data architects, maintaining our documentation frameworks such as BRD & Technical specifications documents, testing, and change management. You will ensure all Enterprise Data Management systems, processes, reports, and dashboards are functional, updated timely and conform to CAAT’s IT standards and procedures and assist the team in production release cycles.
We are looking for someone with:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in progressive IT Business Analysis roles.
- High degree of IT systems knowledge and experience with Microsoft Enterprise technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, SCCM, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge in SQL query-writing and experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI or similar BI tools.
- Experience with diagramming/workflow tools like Vision board, Visio, or Navvia is an asset.
- Familiarity with ITIL standards, Agile frameworks, and experience working on an Agile product team is a plus.
- Experience with Pension Systems/industry is advantageous.
- Scripting experience, especially in Python, is a nice-to-have.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in documentation and the ability to create and maintain accurate technical specifications.
- Capacity to learn and adapt to new tools, processes, and business practices quickly.
- Ability to analyze data and present it effectively to facilitate decision-making and problem-solving.
Once here you will:
- Partner with key stakeholders to understand their requirements and align these with CAAT’s strategic goals, while working closely with internal teams to design and implement technology and system improvements.
- Identify and recommend process enhancements, defining business requirements to optimize business processes and meet organizational needs.
- Lead the adoption of new processes and tools, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, tool performance, and effective change management.
- Analyze and resolve issues, assign technical resources as needed, and implement solutions to prevent future problems while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Maintain clear communication with team members regarding tasks and projects, and collaborate with Data Analysts and Developers to ensure technical documentation remains current.
- Provide expert support for application maintenance, including problem-solving, database development, and report creation using BI tools.
- Assist with implementing application updates, configurations, and hot fixes, preparing user manuals, and training users on new functionality.
- Participate in regression testing of updates and patches in pre-production environments, ensuring that changes are effectively managed and documented.
- Support the manager in the project’s intake for all Enterprise Data Management requests through the Service Now platform. This will involve providing support for all phases of data management related projects.
