Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Data & Analytics, the Business Intelligence (BI) Report Developer acts as a business enabler to a select line of business of the Biopharma & Provider Solutions (“BPS”) organization to ensure teams have advanced dashboards, analytics and insights that (i) augment their experience and intuition to make sound business decisions and (ii) unlock additional value for both McKesson and its biopharma or provider customers.

With this role, you will be responsible for design, development, implementation, and support of internal and customer facing Business Intelligence reports and dashboards. Working with cross-functional teams, you will participate to gather and document reporting requirements to meet business needs. Using your skills and experience as a BI Report Developer, you will then use those requirements to design, develop, test and implement reports and dashboards to drive strategic decision making and improve business performance. You will recommend solutions to new and complex problems, partner with D&A and IT teams to develop innovative strategies, evaluate the potential impact of changes, and recommend process improvements. You will transform data into meaningful insights that enable the success of our internal and external customers. You will create and leverage complex models, reports, and dashboards from internal and external data sources, in collaboration with our data & analytics (“D&A”) and IT teams, to drive an impactful dialogue on hindsight, insight, and foresight. You will also be asked to execute other related analytics activities.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and understands business requirements in the context of desired reporting and dashboard requirements
  • Translates business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required reports and dashboards, created from potentially multiple data sources
  • Designs and maps data models to shift raw data into meaningful analytics and insights
  • Provides support, as required, to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards for both external and internal users
  • Utilizes Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports
  • Identifies, standardizes, and/or automates existing and new reports, scorecards, and processes (where applicable) – in collaboration with other members within the team and/or business unit
  • Oversees SSRS reports shared with assigned customers. Executes the transition of reporting into Power BI Report Builder.
  • Develops strong data documentation about algorithms, parameters, models. Ensures proper configuration management and change controls are implemented.
  • Provides technical assistance and cross training to other team members. Design and implement best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes.
  • Focuses on data and information reporting that requires (1) additional analysis or thinking, and/or (2) discussion on insights, gaps, and opportunities
  • Identifies, investigates, evaluates new opportunities for business value creation
  • Manages and executes change requests as per internal and customer needs
  • Challenges the way we are doing things to set up teammates and the business for success


General Responsibilities

  • Identifies and reviews opportunities for continuous improvement with the D&A team; makes recommendations and implements solutions, as required.
  • Promotes cooperation within own team, as well as between groups and with other departments, especially IT
  • Acts as a McKesson ambassador of corporate values and of data-driven decision-making.
  • Build a strong understanding of strategic priorities for the business through development of stakeholder relationships
  • Develops and maintains internal and external networks to support knowledge gathering and sustainable sharing of best practices in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics across McKesson Canada.
  • Recommends creation and adoption of new tools for advanced reporting and analytics in line with customer and business needs.


Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in relevant data related field of study. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in developing and implementing enterprise-scale reports and dashboards including (i) working with users in a requirements analysis role (ii) extensive experience with data warehouse implementations (iii) knowledge and experience with data modelling concepts
  • Strong knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau. Experience in a Power BI administrator position, either as a User admin or Power Platform admin is an asset.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses is a must (e.g. Snowflake)
  • Understanding of data integration issues (validation and cleaning), familiarity with complex data and structures
  • Knowledge of Canadian biopharma landscape, Patient Support Programs, Specialty pharmacies, infusion clinics, technology solutions for physicians, and general healthcare industry is an asset.


Key Competencies

  • Experienced in conducting activities with broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in D&A, plus working knowledge of other related fields (data storytelling or visualizations).
  • Advanced knowledge of the MS Office products (Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Word) and hands-on experience with Power BI and Power Query
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience in extracting and manipulating data from various databases.
  • Proficiency in DAX and M languages within Power BI for advanced data modelling, transformation and calculations
  • Experience in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), processes for data integration, cleansing and validation before the visualization
  • Able to work with large datasets, create visualization tools to see the “big picture”
  • High competence and demonstrated experience with PowerBI Report Builder is a must
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and security measures within Power BI
  • Experience in leading projects via influence.
  • Capable of simplifying unusually complex problems involving multiple dependencies.
  • Resilient and resourceful. Works under limited direction to determine and develop approach to solutions. Capable of proactively learning new concepts and software quickly.
  • Excellent partnering skills to play key contributor role within assigned line of business and for its key stakeholders – collaborating with various levels of management, individual contributors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Skillful in adequately crafting messages to target audiences including senior and executive leadership. Partners with audience to understand their core needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work cooperatively and build strong business relationships with customers and internal team members

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$71,400 - $119,000
