If you want to be part of the change and growth of one of Canada’s long-established and respected broadcasters, this is your chance. CBC Digital Strategy & Products is looking for a Senior Business Data Analyst to join our Data & Audience Activation team

You will be responsible for implementing best practices for collection, categorization, optimization and activation of audience data as well as data exploration and advanced analytics, and participate in defining business needs for our stakeholders and key partners.

We are in the midst of implementing a new CDP platform, and will be increasing business use of our existing DMP platform. Your work will have a direct impact on how millions of Canadians from various communities connect with our products, with one another, and with the diverse voices that make our country so unique.

How you will make an impact:

  • Use the full capabilities of our data management platforms (DMP/CDP) to meet business needs
  • Establish and implement good practices for the collection, categorization of data as well as the creation of audiences (business rules, nomenclatures, etc.) in our audience activation platforms, working closely with data engineers and data integration team
  • Work closely with internal media advertising and marketing teams to define business KPIs, conduct deep-dive analysis, and make recommendations.
  • Particular attention to compliance with laws and the protection of personal information of our audience.
  • Conduct deep dive analyses to uncover audience insights and feed findings into continuous improvement processes
  • Build and maintain regular and ad hoc dashboards and tailored visualizations that help teams make data-driven decisions.

Who You Are

You are building out your career in Business and Data Analytics. You may have a background in Digital Advertising or AdOps. Either way, you have progressively moved up, bridging the technical with the human, refining your communication and project skills as you interpret and translate information. You want to create solutions based on what the data tells you; help define processes and implement best practices. You want to be part of a team that prioritizes maintaining a positive working atmosphere and empowers individuals to make decisions.

  • You are a Data Analyst. You are an expert in partnering and earning trust with internal business leaders to drive and influence key business decisions.
  • You’re a critical thinker and problem solver - you have a passion for exploring data and formulating insights to drive towards action.
  • Possess a degree in Economics, Computer Science, Media Communications, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with Marketing and Product Analytics platforms (CDP, DMP, Amplitude/Adobe, Data Clean Rooms) (Lotame, Blueconic or Optable an asset);
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with leaders in Media Ad Revenue, Marketing, Product, Data Engineering;
  • Mastery of at least one programming language associated with data analysis, ideally Python (pandas), SQL or Spark;
  • Have experience with data visualization. You have working knowledge of one more visualization tools: Tableau, Excel, Power BI etc. and have the ability to quickly learn new tools. Dax (PowerQuery/M an asset;
  • Have good knowledge of Marketing Mix Modeling and customer segmentation algorithmst;
  • Mastery of the marketing analytics and Canadian media;
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and work in a consultancy role;
  • Have a great interest in digital and new technologies;
  • Collaborate. You can work as part of the team, or work autonomously. You are adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to a dynamic startup environment. Previous experience working at a startup environment is an asset;
