About Dropbox

Dropbox has been a file hosting service since 2007, providing cloud storage, file synchronization, personal cloud, and client software. Dropbox was founded by MIT students Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi as a startup company and later received initial funding from Y Combinator. Dropbox has been blocked in China since 2014. Dropbox has experienced criticism and generated controversy for issues like security breaches and privacy concerns.

Despite this, Dropbox has remained a popular service with over 500 million registered users as of 2019. Dropbox offers its users 2GB of storage space for free with paid plans offering up to 2TB of storage. Dropbox has been praised for its ease of use and its popularity has led to the development of a number of apps and services that integrate with it.
